About Me

My name is Becky Hayden – and I am an artist. Well, I say artist but it’s more like “aspiring” artist. My passion is to create things that will one day be worth something and that I can one day substitute as my sole income. For now, I am working away at nights creating artworks and looking for my ‘big break’. When I created the A Fresh Spirit Artwork blog, my vision was to share with the world any kind of content that I find inspiring.

Please take the time to read around the site and to be inspired with me. From time to time I will also post articles and links to interesting products that I find around the web – I am a big supporter of natural medicine and alternative therapies and if I can find something that I believe could be a benefit to my small band of followers, I will be sure to post it for them to see.

I’m also on the look out for other contributors and collaborators to help me in my quest of delivering inspiring artwork to the masses!

Metalwork & CNC Machining as Art

An example of metalwork art that can be achieved with CNC machining.

As a graphic designer, I’ve always been fascinated by the creative possibilities that technology has to offer. And one method that has recently caught my attention is CNC machining, which stands for Computer Numerical Control. CNC machining is a process where a computer-controlled machine cuts and shapes materials to create precise parts and objects.

When people think of CNC machining, they often think of its applications in manufacturing and engineering. But what many people don’t realize is that CNC machining can also be used as a tool for artistic expression. In fact, CNC machining is an overlooked method for creating art.

With CNC machining, any project is possible. The precision and versatility of CNC machining allow artists to create intricate and complex designs that would be difficult or impossible to achieve with traditional methods.

One example of an artist who has embraced CNC machining is my friend who worked with Galvin Engineering to create a stunning art piece. Using Galvin Engineering’s CNC machining capabilities, my friend was able to bring his vision to life in a way that he never thought possible. The finished piece was a beautiful sculpture that captured the essence of his artistic style. Speaking of Galvin Engineering, if you want to check them out for your own project, you should visit their website. Although the traditional applications of CNC machining are more common for manufacturing and for use with mechanics, Galvin Engineering are extremely accommodating and can provide some great options for fabrication as well, in case you have a large-scale project you need to complete.

While laser cutting is a useful tool for many applications, CNC machining offers some unique advantages that make it more versatile in certain situations. CNC machining can work with a wider variety of materials, including metals and harder materials that can be difficult to laser cut. CNC machines can also produce more complex shapes and designs with greater precision, allowing artists to create more intricate and detailed works of art. Additionally, CNC machines can be used for milling, drilling, and other types of cutting, making them more versatile than laser cutting machines. Overall, while both laser cutting and CNC machining have their strengths, CNC machining offers a wider range of possibilities for artists and designers looking to push the boundaries of their craft.

But CNC machining isn’t just for sculptures. There are many other artistic applications of this technology, including:

  • Wall art – CNC machining can be used to create intricate and unique wall art pieces that are sure to impress.
  • Jewellery – With CNC machining, jewellery designers can create one-of-a-kind pieces that are both stunning and precise.
  • Furniture – CNC machining can be used to create custom furniture pieces that are both functional and beautiful.
  • Signage – CNC machining can be used to create eye-catching signage that is sure to draw attention.
  • Decorative objects – The precision and accuracy of CNC machining make it an ideal tool for creating decorative objects like vases, bowls, and more.

In conclusion, CNC machining is an overlooked method for creating art. With its precision, versatility, and ease of use, CNC machining can be used to create intricate and complex designs that are sure to impress. So, if you’re an artist looking to take your craft to the next level, consider incorporating CNC machining into your creative process. With CNC machining, anything is possible!
